There's No Such Thing as a SOMETIMES Christian... (Part 1)

Part of our Sunday school lesson for today said, “We can’t serve two masters. Discipleship DEMANDS a choice. It is either the enjoyment of temporal life now with separation from God eternally or it is the choice of self-denial now and eternal life at the end…We must understand that cross-bearing is a daily circumstance. Following Him entails the suffering and shame of Calvary- the surrender of physical life in order to save our souls unto ETERNAL life.”

There are a lot of people that believe they are saved, but their lives don’t show it. Many of them smoke, drink, curse, and live with people to whom they aren't married, among other things. This is not the lifestyle of a Christian. There is no such thing as a sinning Christian. We are not to sometimes smoke, sometimes drink, sometimes curse, or sometimes any other sin. We cannot be sometimes Christians, but we must be EVERYDAY Christians, using each day that the Lord makes to live a holy life and share his goodness with others. When we commit our lives to Christ, we put that old lifestyle behind us and take on a lifestyle with which Christ is pleased.

1 Peter 1:13-17, “Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:” (He couldn’t have made it much plainer than that…)
