Value of Life

God's Coffee… “A group of alumni , highly established in their careers , got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite- telling them to help themselves. When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: ‘If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each other's cups. Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs , money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of Life we live. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee God has provided us.’ God brews the coffee, not the cups.......... Enjoy your coffee!” (author unknown)

"The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything."

James 4:14-15, “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.”

Proverbs 30:8, “Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me…”

Our life is just a small matter when the other 6 billion people of the world are taken into consideration. Many times we let the cares of this world and the pride of life overshadow the meaning of living. We weren't specifically made to drive the most expensive cars, to wear the most fashionable clothes, to be recognized of high social status. We were, however, made to worship the Lord who provides our every need, serve God with gladness in our hearts, and to share the love of Jesus with everyone we come into contact with. Just like the cup and coffee, many people judge their value of life on what's on the outside of thier body: how they look, dress, what they drive, cost of thier house, etc. When actually, its inside the heart that determines your value of life. Don't let yourself get your thinking out of order and begin ruling your life by the style of cup you are using. Remember, true life is inside the cup, inside your heart.

Luke 21:34, “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.”
