Fashionably Late!

 [Mark 13:33] Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

It is a common thing for people these days to lose a sense of time. People arrive late to school so often that a "tardy bell" had to be put into the system. Many are late to doctor appointments, hair appointments, work, etc. The list goes on and on. It is even common for people to be late to church services. We are human and we make mistakes.

Many times to avoid being criticized on the untimely manner to events such as dates, get-togethers, and social extravaganzas, people jokingly use the excuse that they were “fashionably late”. (As long as you look good, it’s acceptable.)

While there is little harm done in being late to certain worldly events, one event we need not be late for is the Coming of Jesus Christ. His Marriage Supper of the Lamb is not a place where we can use the excuse “fashionably late”. The Bible says in  [Matthew 6:19] Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:[20] But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:[21] For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.. We cannot afford to worry so much about the treasures, fashion, lusts, of this world that we get caught up and miss the real reason we are put on this earth- Jesus. To make it to Heaven we have to deny this world and be watching for His coming daily.
[Titus 2:12] Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

In the dating world, girls tend to make the boys wait outside for awhile and then make the grand appearance down the staircase to emphasize their beauty and time it took to prepare their appearance. Boys may enjoy the flattery; however, Jesus is not worried about that, and we have no authority to take our time and make Him wait. We are waiting on His perfect time. We must be making ourselves ready and ensuring that purity and holiness is strived for until His return. His idea of beauty is simply- holiness. Don’t cover yourselves in ungodliness and try to conform to the world’s standards. Conform to the Bible.

[Revelations 19:7] Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

Be ready at all times and look forward to His coming. It may or may not be in our lifetime, but the time will come. Also, no one knows when their individual time may come, so like the old song says “I pray we’ll all be ready”.

[Romans 13:11] And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

[2 Corinthians 6:2] (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

Don’t wait. Now is the time!
