Keep Your Candle Burning

[Psalms 18:28] For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

There is a candle in each and every single one of us. God created us to serve Him,therefore, we know that we ALL have the ability to be on fire for God. Candles are used for light, scent, decoration, mood setting, etc. Take that to a spiritual level. God has various places, times, situations, and plans for how our candles will be used. Maybe you live in a home where no one serves God? Carry your candle to light that home. As Sister Autumn Thompson says "It only takes ONE candle to wipe out darkness." Maybe you are around coworkers or classmates that have 'stinky' attitudes? Be that candle that would fill the room with a sweet smell pleasing to God. You may be around people that love to dress themselves up with the cares of this world. They want to be pretty on the outside, but haven't cleaned up their inside. Show the world that your candle burns brightly and makes you glow with inner beauty. (A song Casting Crowns sings says "God's gotta change your heart before He changes your shirt.")  Are you around people that have no peace, no joy, no patience, no meekness, no faith, no love? Change their mood and let them see your candle burning and exhibiting all of those fruitful aromas. (Read Galatians  5:22).

God has a plan for your candle, but you have to make sure it is lit by Him and used to glorify Him. He has called you the light of the world. He has commanded you to go shine for Him. 

[Matthew 5:14] Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. [15] Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. [16] Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Let your little light shine and wipe out the darkness. We all have the ability to receive the light of the Lord. If you choose not to obey His command, your consequences await. 

[Proverbs 24:20] For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.

Don't be the wicked man. Be the light of the world and carry your candle to all of those who depend on you. You may be the only Bible anyone reads. Let your life be the candle that shines.
