Do you remember?
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
It's true that we don't need to be reminded of our past failures and sins to the point that we are bogged down. God cast it into the sea of His forgetfulness and that should be where it stays. We must learn to forgive ourselves and move on.
However! We must never forget where it is that we came from. We can't let ourselves think we deserve the grace we received or forget that we were ever in NEED of His mercy and forgiveness.
Psalms 40:2,3 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
Your life is a testimony of God's mercy and grace. Don't resort back to your old sinful lifestyle, but don't ever forget where God found you and brought you out of.
Psalms 32:5 I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
Lord, help me to remember where I came from in order to stay humble and thankful for you mercy on my life. Help me not to have a haughty spirit or think that I am more deserving than anyone else. If not for you mercy and grace, I could be in the same position as a murderer in prison. Your grace is enough to cover the sins of all men and I need to be reminded of that every single day. Amen.
