Hebrews13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
A few years ago on a Sunday morning before church in Russelville, AR, my family chose to go to McDonalds for a quick breakfast. As we were pulling in, Cindi and I saw a homeless man carrying some luggage, walking across the street. Immediately we noticed that he was carrying a Bible. After small conversation once seeing him, we both felt that we needed to invite him to come to church with us. We mentioned it to our uncle, Rob Montgomery. Uncle Rob was almost shocked that we had asked him to do so, because he had felt God telling him to invite that man already. As the man stood in line right in front of us, Uncle Rob went up to him and they got into a conversation about this and that. Uncle Rob ended up paying for his meal. Then they started discussing God and before we even knew it, we had called the pastor to come give him a ride, because the man had agreed to attend. If you think thats great, theres so much more. During service a special offering was taken up for him. The man was almost in tears. Throughout getting to know him, we learned a little about the field of work he was interested in and some men from the church opened a camper for him to stay in until Monday when they would help him look for a job. :)
How great is our God? All it took was a small step of faith. Even the youth can have a mighty influence on the community. Not only did that man hopefully recieve a powerful blessing from God by the love and compassion that was shown by the members, but also we as VLBs can learn from this example. It doesnt take much to let your light shine. If you will be obedient to God's work, amazing things will fall into place. Dont be scared to make a move! As long as God's will is being done, nothing will go wrong.
Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.
